My Story…
I’m running for Rhino!!
Falmouth Road Race holds special memories of Ryan running the 7-mile course from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights. Growing up in Falmouth, Massachusetts, it was an August highlight often falling on his birthday.
Ryan passed away at the age of 40 in October 2015 of a rare aggressive cancer, Nut Midline Carcinoma. As Ryan put it, “I ran every road race as fast as. I could, because if I paced myself, I wouldn’t be able to make up the time later in the race”, With no surprise, he lived his life the same way. In an effort to harness his positive energy and keep his memory alive, we founded the Ryan Richards Foundation (RRF).
The RRF mission is to support local families struggling with cancer, support rare cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DCFI), and support graduating Falmouth High School Seniors with scholarships to continue their education.
Since 2016, the RRF has helped dozens of local families battling cancer, endowed two annually scholarships, and funded medical advancements of over one hundred thousand dollars to Nut Midline Carcinoma Clinical Trials.
No suprise, his daughter Nora Ryan is counting down the days until she can run Falmouth in 2026! Ryan started the race, now we will finish it for him. Come join us Running for Rhino!!
