My Story…
This will be my 13th year entering the Falmouth Road Race in support of Independence House! Many of you have supported me and IH over the years and have absolutely been at the race in spirit each and every year. Those of you who are new to possibly supporting me, you must know that "running" this race is simply an act of love for the work at Independence House. My goal is to raise money and cross the finish line standing with at least 50 runners in back of me. :). I run for those who have no voice and unfortunately, there are many who are stuck in abusive relationships.
Independence House's main service is counseling and offering resources to help individuals feel whole again. These direct services are extremely important. We must also focus on the prevention of domestic and sexual violence. Abuse is a choice and therefore preventable. I will give a shout out to Independence House's prevention conference, #SoMuchAbuse: Let's End it Together, to be held on Friday, September 27th, 2024. More details to follow. Please mark it on your calendars. thank you
