Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts.
Hi Friends and Family,
As many of you may already know, I am so excited to be joining Team BCP for 2 very important reasons:
1. I BELIEVE in their mission and their model of care. I see first hand in the pediatric emergency department day in and out how kids are failed by our system, particularly the kids who need help the most. They come to the ED because they don't have access to their pediatrician and the larger systems of care (especially mental health care!) that they deserve. My amazing friend from medical school, DR ROBYN RISEBERG, spent decades working in clinics within Boston and ultimately has taken matters into her own hands to CREATE and EXECUTE a model for pediatric care that really works well and keeps kids and families healthier in a comprehensive way. Please check out more of what they do on their link.
This brings me to my second important reason for running:
2. Nostalgia and reconnecting with Robyn! When we were residents in Boston (20+ years ago) we remained sane by waking up early (sometimes when it was still dark) to meet along the river and run together. We would gab and gab about anything and everything and we used this time together to energize and prepare mentally for whatever lay ahead in our days/lives. I feel so lucky to be able to reconnect and run again with Robyn for the joy and health of it in addition to fundraising to support the amazing work of BCP.
Description
BCP is bringing income and racial equity to pediatric healthcare by providing all families, but particularly those with low-income, with comprehensive, high-quality, culturally competent care that puts the patient at the forefront of its delivery model, regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay. BCP has three main goals: 1) Ensure Boston’s children have access to the highest quality pediatric health care; 2) Increase access to, and reduce the stigma of, mental health care; and 3) Address social determinants of health through comprehensive, relationship-driven care and resource navigation.
Join me by donating to team BCP for the 52nd annual Falmouth Road Race to help secure all BCP has achieved and to continue setting a new standard for how pediatric care should be delivered to all children.
