As a first time runner of the Falmouth road race I am excited and ready for the challenge. I know it will be hard! I’m running in honor of my daughter Sarah and everyone whose lives are affected by T1D. Every chance Sarah gets to make a wish, it’s not the usual wish you’d expect from an 11 year old. Since her diagnosis when she was 8, her wish has always been to find a cure for T1D! She dreams of a life without it! Working together with JDRF will get us closer to making Sarah’s wish come true. I also hope to bring attention and awareness to T1D signs, symptoms, and break down the stigmas associated with T1D. Knowledge is power! It’s a tough disease with no break. It truly takes a village - nurses, endocrinologist’s, teachers, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins. All day, every day is exhausting for Sarah and all involved in managing T1D. It takes an emotional and physical toll! It’s hard! Together, we can all do hard things! Let’s help make Sarah’s wish come true and get closer to a cure for this disease, so Sarah and many others can live a life without it!

Welcome to my personal Breakthrough T1D fundraising page!
I have joined Breakthrough T1D to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help Breakthrough T1D fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
Breakthrough T1D is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar Breakthrough T1D is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
The challenge I have set for myself — to raise money for Breakthrough T1D and to race — is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.
