My Story…
5.5 years ago my daughter's friend, and my friends Susie and Nick's son, William Wolfgang Shaw, died in a tragic skiing accident. Watching my daughter, her friends, our community, Susie and Nick struggle through their grief made me want to do something, anything, to help. We started with a parkour event in William's honor which has grown to become a staple of Carlisle's annual summer festival. Planning this event brought a joy to William's friends that had been missing since he died. And so we realized that we could do so much more - both to keep William's memory alive, and help our kids and other communities that experience the tragedy of childhood grief. And so William's Be Yourself Challenge came to life. And we do so much good! But we need to raise funds to keep this wonderful work going. Caroline and I are going to run our 3rd Falmouth Road Race to raise money to fund WBYC activities, In the past 3 years we've held events to benefit our community, benefit other communities, keep kids moving and educate kids and caregivers about being YOURSELF, in honor of William and a goal that he set for himself in his last year of life. Please consider donating so we can continue this important work.
