As many of you might know, I run the Falmouth Road Race every August in Cape Cod. This year I will be running for a great cause, The Shawn Thornton Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to helping find cures for diseases, specifically Parkinson’s and cancer. As I prepare for this summer’s race, I am reminded of the incredible individuals who have touched my life and faced the challenges of Parkinson's disease and cancer with courage and resilience.

My late grandfather, Robert Price, affectionately known as "Poppy Bobby," was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the young age of 43. Despite the diagnosis, he remained active, playing tennis, working out, and running. His dedication to exercise not only prolonged his mobility but also his life, surviving close to 30 years with the disease.

My mother, Lynn Price, fought breast cancer twice, in 2011 and 2016. Her unwavering determination and strength during those years left an ever-lasting mark on me. Today, she stands proudly in remission for the past 8 years, a testament to her resilience and courage.

My late grandmother, Helaine Price, battled lymphoma for years and currently, my grandmother Barbara Herzig is undergoing treatment for lung cancer, both showing incredible strength and determination every step of the way.

Lastly, my sister-in-law Danielle's mother, Mary Laurion, lost her battle with stomach cancer in 2010. Though I never had the opportunity to meet her, Danielle's stories paint a picture of a woman of unparalleled strength and kindness, leaving a lasting legacy of love and courage.

As I run in their honor, I carry their stories with me, fueling my determination to make a difference in the fight against Parkinson's disease and cancer. I want to run to celebrate the lives of these loved ones to name a few, but others as well that have been affected by these terrible diseases. Any sort of support to get me to my goal of raising $1,600 would be very much appreciated!
