My Story…
I am so excited to once again be running the Falmouth Road Race with Team Brigham, supporting the work done by Brigham and Women’s Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment (CART) in honor of my grandmother, our research participants, and millions of other Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease.
As many of you may know, Alzheimer’s disease is a cause that has been very close to my heart for almost 10 years. When I was in high school my grandmother was diagnosed with AD and has been living with it ever since. Her diagnosis propelled me into the world of caregiving– I became certified as a nursing assistant and spent several years working in nursing homes with people in the late stages of AD and other neurodegenerative disorders. In 2020 I began working at the Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment with a wonderful team of physicians, nurses, and other research assistants dedicated to preventing and treating AD. I had to leave CART last summer to attend medical school in New York, but I will always treasure my time there. The unwavering commitment to progressing the field of AD towards a cure demonstrated by our research participants and their caregivers and families is truly inspiring.
All of this is to say I have spent the better part of the past 6 years working with Alzheimer’s disease patients and I will continue this work for years to come in as many ways as I can, big and small! Thank you in advance for your donation, any amount is much appreciated!
