My Story…
Sunday August 18th I’ll be running the Falmouth road race on the Natick Service Council (NSC) team. My goal is to raise a minimum of $1,500.
In the beginning of my journey as a single mom of three, Natick Service Council was a huge safety net for us. The whole six years that I have been on this single mom journey I have never received child support and have been doing this solely alone. NSC provided help with my electric bill after a rough winter. I remember being on a run pushing my three kids when Kathy, my advocate, let me know they would help. I broke down in tears. The amount of stress they were lifting from me, and the generosity brought me to tears!
I raise our family completely alone and that includes holidays. My first Christmas as a single mom I had a one, three, and four year old and was making under $12,000 a year. I had no extra money to provide a Christmas. The NSC gave me a gift card to purchase a tree, and gave me a box of toys for each one of my kids. Being able to wake up on Christmas morning and watch the joy on my kids' faces as every parent knows, is pure bliss. That joy was brought to us by NSC.
The one thing I have learned throughout my journey is that you have to give back, pay it forward, look out for the people who are where you once were. Please help me raise some money to allow another family who is experiencing hard times, to get the support they need! Help me give another family what was given to me; help me lift stress from families. Help me pay it forward!
