Help Kenneth raise money

For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

I'm "Running for Willie"

I met my wife, Casey Finigan, on September 17, 2019 and was fortunate to have had her father, William “Willie” Finigan, in my life for the first two years of our relationship.  Willie was the type of guy that everyone knew in town and everyone loved for his kindness, humor, and good-spirited nature. He also embraced me as part of his family instantly and appeared genuinely overjoyed when “Kenny-boy” asked him permission to marry his daughter just over a year later.

Sadly, 8 months after losing my father, we lost Willie on August 26, 2021. While it was a fleeting notion, I can remember taking solace after my father’s loss that I’d at least gained another amazing father figure in my life. Sadly, shortly thereafter Willie took a turn in his battle against Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

To honor all the incredible things that Willie was, all the incredible ways he still lives in our hearts and impacts our lives, and to sooner-than-later put an end to head and neck cancer, my wife established the The Willie Fund shortly after his passing and has quietly raised over $150k since inception.

Next Sunday, August 18, I’m going to do my best to make Willie proud by running 7+ miles in this year’s Falmouth Road Race on Team Willie.  I humbly ask my friend, family, and professional network to consider a donation to this great cause. 100% of donations to the Willie Fund go straight towards cancer research at the Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary.

Do it for Willie!!!

Description

We're "Running for Willie"!!

The Willie Fund is honored to be part of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race! The funds raised by our dedicated runners goes directly to Mass Eye & Ear, part of Mass General Brigham hospital in Boston to help support the research and fight for a cure of Head & Neck Cancer.

About The Willie Fund:

The Willie Fund was started in honor of William J. Finigan, but known to most as "Willie", who passed away on August 26th 2021 from Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of Head and Neck Cancer.

The Willie Fund works directly with Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, part of Mass General Brigham, and the dedicated doctors who treated Willie, allocating all donations specifically to help fund further research for Head & Neck Cancer.

Our hope is to ultimately find a cure so that no one has to lose their loved one as young and as sudden as we did Willie.
