BackPack Beginnings

BackPack Beginnings is dedicated to making a difference for local children and families by providing for their tangible basic needs. Our mission is to deliver child-centric services to feed, comfort and clothe children in need. By ensuring food and basic necessities are given directly to children in need, we are making a positive and lasting impact on the health and well-being of children in our community.

During our 2021-22 fiscal year, we provided 381,190 lbs of food, 1,706 Comfort BackPacks, 20,117 items of clothing, 13,865 hygiene items, 309,508 diapers and 27,926 books to local children and families. Overall, these basic needs went to 21,123 children! 

The BPB Family Market is a dignity of choice, “one-stop” shopping experience where parents and children select their basic needs at no cost in a retail-like, welcoming environment. Families have access to expanded food choices such as frozen foods, fresh produce, and dairy items as well as resources such as hygiene products, diapers, baby accessories, school supplies, and even childhood joys such as toys, books, and sports equipment! The Family Market is just one addition to the 11 other programs that continue to make up our organization.
