My Story…
My MBC story began almost 3 years ago when my daughter Ashley was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was only a few weeks until she was told it had spread to her liver.
It was shocking to hear that my baby had been diagnosed with this serious disease, but the care she received gave us hope that long term treatment is possible.
Then the first two years of treatments would work for a few months, then it was on to something new as they became ineffective,
Her current treatment, which was just approved for her type was just approved last year, seems to be effective for now.
Ashley is an amazing young woman who is staying grounded and positive throughout this process, but is facing an uncertain future while she raises her young son.
I have been fortunate to be able to travel with Ashley to her treatments, giving us time together that we may not have had.
It has also given me the opportunity to work with METAvivor and meet some of the brave women who are dealing with this diagnosis while going on with their lives. What an inspiration!!
However, there is a dire need for new treatments and eventually a cure for MBC. METAvivor is an all volunteer organization, so every dollar donated goes directly to fund research.
