Raise Money for Foundation for Disabled Youths (FFDY)

It is difficult enough to have some form of intellectual/developmental delay (I/DD.) The difficulty becomes insurmountable when coupled with the intersectionality of being the first generation immigrants with the lack of language access and cultural competence.  That is the core population we serve.  

Background: FFDY was formed by a group of parents with I/DD children in 2004.  Together with concerned members of the community, we reached roughly 200 families.  Our programs are located in the East San Gabriel valley of L.A. county. 

Mission:  We provide: 1. a platform for our children to socialize, learn and grow; 2. a place of support and education to parents; and 3. We train the next generation of compassionate leaders for a better future.

Vision: 1. Presently,  we serve our I/DD community every weekend with social recreation programs such as adaptive sports, music & movements, arts & crafts, and healthy lifestyle education. Our vision here is: A.  to expand our weekend program to weekday programs also.  Our day program will incorporate job skills training as many of our children are now exiting the school system.  They are anxious about their future.  2. To empower our families for better access to services and a greater voice of advocacy; our vision is B. to increase service types and amount so that parents feel supported.  3. Our program has been successful with the assistance of high school volunteers.  C. Our vision here is to generate enough funding from various channels so that we can train bi-lingual and multilingual leaders to form a team of paid staff to sustain and move our organization forward.
