My Story…
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page for the 5th Annual SCADADDLE!
I'm so happy to help fundraise for this important research for the 5th year. We have so much fun at the 5k event, I hope you will join us this year!
I celebrated my 10-year SCAD-iversary in 2023. That means I had a SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) when I was 27 years old. I've been learning and advocating for research ever since. I've also had many hurdles and health scares, but I am much stronger today than 10 years ago.
This last year brought me to genetics testing where I can try to find out more about the true cause of my SCAD, and what my daughter and other immediate family members should do to know the risk factors. We are early into the genetics research, but events like this 5k are helping us find answers! The amount of information that is known about SCAD now, vs when I was diagnosed 10 years ago, is so amazing. I, personally, have been involved in 2 research studies with the Mayo clinic and am being asked to participate in another this year. Is it fun driving to Rochester to get poked and prodded? No. Is it important for my family and for the newly diagnosed SCAD sisters and brothers I meet every year? Yes
Thank you for any support you can provide! I hope you will join us on May 11th. And if not, I hope you will consider making a donation. Be sure to share this info with family and friends (especially those in healthcare). Knowledge on this unknown condition can save lives!
Be sure to get CPR/AED certified! ❤️
