VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE - RACE DAY

(Race Day) Packet Distribution | 5:30 am | 8:00 am | Volunteers will assist in distributing race materials including race tank, bib, timing chip and swim caps to registered participants. All race packets are distributed on race day, no early packet pickup in 2024. May be asked to assist in transition area after body marking is complete. Requires standing for extended periods. |
Body Marker | 5:30 am | 8:00 am | Volunteers will assist in body marking the race numbers onto the arms and legs of the athletes for timing purposes. May be asked to assist in transition area after body marking is complete. Requires standing for extended periods. Please note that this is a female only position |
Transition Area | 5:30 am | 11:00 am | Volunteers will assist participants in the Transition Area. Includes finding rack space for participants to store their materials for each event (swim, bike, run). This position will ensure the area remains clean, safe, secure, walkways clear and provide general assistance to participants. One of these activities will be assigned to volunteers upon check-in on event day. Please note that this is a female only position. |
Swim Start | 7:00 am | 9:30 am | Volunteers will be needed to assist event staff within the swim start area in athlete support and flow, including but not limited to timing equipment replacement. The person may also act as a "spotter" at the swim finish. |
Swim Buddy | 7:00 am | 9:30 am | Accompany athletes who may be uncomfortable or nervous during the swim portion of the event. The Buddy does not physically assist the swimmer, but instead swims alongside the swimmer to provide encouragement and comfort. Requires strong swimmer. |
Lifeguard | 7:00 am | 9:30 am | This position will monitor the swim portion of the race in order to assist with any emergency water situations. Lifeguards will be assisting participants in and out of the water. Requires certified Lifeguard. Receives a cash stipend of $150. |
Safety Boat/Kayaker | 7:00 am | 10:00 am | Kayaks assist with swimmer safety in the reservoir during the swim course. You may serve as a "rest point" for tired swimmers when necessary and as a spotter for any swimmers in need of assistance. Requires you transport and use your own kayak. Receives a cash stipend of $50. (FULL) |
Run Start Line | 7:00 am | 11:00 am | Volunteers will be needed to assist event staff within the run start area for the Duathlon & Triathlon; duties include athlete support, water table, and run course traffic flow. |
Run Marshal | 7:00 am | 11:30 am | Volunteers will assist in directing participants on the run course, as well as spectator traffic along the routes. |
Water Stations | 7:00 am | 11:30 am | Volunteers will assist with setting up, operating, and breaking down water stations for distribution to the athletes on the course. |
Bike Start/Finish | 7:00 am | 11:30 am | Volunteers will direct/assist riders as they mount and dismount in the designated area. Volunteers will monitor the fence line between spectators and beginning of the bike course. This will ensure both participant and spectator safety. |
Bike Marshal | 7:00 am | 11:30 am | Volunteers will assist in directing participants on the bike course and notifying general park guests of the event. |
Finish Line | 7:00 am | 12:30 pm | Volunteers will congratulate participants by handing out water and medals as they cross the finish line and assisting with removing timing chip. |
Beer Tent | 8:00 am | 12:30 pm | Volunteers will pour beer for participants. Must be at least 21+ years old. May involve moving kegs of beer or cases. |
Food & Beverage | 8:00 am | 12:30 pm | Volunteers will assist in setting up and distributing food and beverages to participants in the post race Expo. |
