Our story…

It is that time of year again where my organization runs a 5k to make others aware of the need Denver has to address poverty. I personally support the mission of my organization by walking alongside women who have experienced crisis as the assistant director in one of our transitional houses. This year, I am transitioning from serving at the two year program housing to the short term house.

In this next season, I have the opportunity to walk alongside women who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, sexual exploitation, mental health concerns, poverty, etc. The difference between Chayah House (the 2 year program) and TeVeo House(the short term house) is that women can come to TeVeo to heal for as short as one day up to 1 year. Many women are not yet sure if they are ready to commit to a 2 year program, but they need time and space to create goals, look for housing, apply for jobs, learn about a God who loves deeply, and learn life skills. At TeVeo House, a more structured programming is built into the day to help facilitate healing and growth during day groups in a safe place as they begin identifying what next steps to pursue. TeVeo can serve double the amount of women due to rooms being shared. Please pray for me, as the short term house has new challenges of it's own. I will learn a deeper dependence on God, and I will need to be ready for continual intakes and move outs.

As I step into this new role, I am prayerfully looking for people to partner with me financially. Some of you have or already do, and I am so grateful! Although Open Door pays a portion of my salary, I also have the need to raise additional funds to make this job more financially secure. I have worked part time for about a year now, so my current goal is to raise $529 per month to be fully funded in my position. I am about $139 a month shy of meeting my goal. For my birthday this year, it would be a blessing to me if you donated a one time or monthly gift donation to the work I do. This organization has truly helped address the root causes of poverty by teaching one person at a time through the porch discipling and the table family gatherings at dinner and groups. I am so thankful to serve here!
