For participating in Barkapalooza

My Story…

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Barkapalooza 2024!

This year I will be running in honor of Prince Zuko. Zuko came in as an adolescent dog whose family could not handle him, and he basically had to grow up in the kennel. He often felt stressed and found it difficult to trust people.  Thanks to WSHS’s collaboration with Bark Avenue, Zuko was able to receive valuable training that would help him cope with the big scary world! After his stay at Bark Avenue, volunteers and staff stepped in to help him learn to trust again, to help him make friends with other dogs, and to reinforce his training on a daily basis. Zuko is now in an amazing foster home, where he has learned to stop worrying and just be a dog!

Prince Zuko’s story illustrates the teamwork that enables WSHS to go above and beyond for our animals. Our collaboration with trainers, our dedicated volunteers, our buddy program, our foster program, and our animal care staff all came together to give Zuko all the skills he needs to be successful when he finds his forever home!

Barkapalooza is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so please consider donating to support animals like Zuko!

Description

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a private, volunteer-based, animal welfare organization that was founded in 1972 and is 100% funded by individuals, our business partners and private grants. Since our inception we have found forever homes for more than 31,000 animals, and strive to be a community resource for all pet owners.
We want to save as many lives as we can but we need your help!  Our adoption fee does not cover the testing, de-worming, vaccinations, spay/neutering and microchipping WSHS provides these pets, not to mention food, litter, pee pads and other supplies our animals need!
  • Just $25 will microchip 5 animals
  • $50 will feed all the animals in our shelter one meal
  • $100 will cover the cost to spay or neuter one animal
  • $250 will contribute to the medical care for one of our animals needing extra care
  • $500 will cover the cost of one animal in our shelter
