Independence Day Double Mile for Detection!

Join the worldwide Project Purple community, as we walk, jog, or run 2 miles to raise awareness and provide critical funding for the advancement of early detection testing and protocols.

You can join this event from anywhere: from the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with foam... even your treadmill! This is a 100% virtual event that will take place over the 4th of July weekend (July 4-7). You can do it all at once or choose to break it up over multiple days.

We recommend paying attention to the weather as we know July can be hot. If you're participating outside, drink plenty of water and try to get out in the morning or evening to avoid the hottest part of the day. But remember, as hard as things might get, it's nothing compared to chemotherapy.

Reason: Early Detection Of Pancreatic Cancer!

The 5-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is only 13%, largely because it goes undetected for so long. We find that unacceptable so we are raising funds for research towards early detection methods and curative treatment.

All funds raised from this event will fund early detection research initiatives such as the Precede Consortium at NYU Langone and the early detection programs at Hartford Healthcare and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Register for $35 and receive the 2024 Independence Day Double for Detection shirt.

If you'd like to receive your shirt before the run/walk*, you must register by June 6th. Otherwise, you will receive your shirt after the event. Shirts are only available for shipping within the continental U.S.

Fundraising Rewards

In addition to the shirts, we also have some awesome rewards and prizes to give out as a thank-you to those who fundraise. Any individual who raises over $150 will be given a limited edition Independence Day Double trucker hat. The top fundraising team will receive the coveted "Top Fundraiser" Hoodies (limit 10 hoodies per team).

This will be Project Purple's first of a 3-part virtual series for 2024.
