My Story…
07/11/2024 Not only is it free slurpee day at your local "7 Eleven", it's the day I had a Heart Attack. I was diagnosed with Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection. SCAD is little known and a poorly understood type of heart attack. Women as young as 40 with no other health concerns are affected. SCAD is caused when a sudden tear occurs within the layers of one or more arteries to the heart. This tear blocks blood flow and causes a heart attack.
Thankfully I was at work when I had my H.A. and my wonderful family of coworkers were there to rescue me. I was immediately sent to a nearby hospital where the team attended to me quickly. I had 3 stents placed in my right coronary artery. I'm blessed to be here today and thankful for the magnificent team from start to finish.
I'm taking it easy these days, enjoying time with my family. I started Cardiac Rehab and the hope is to gain my confidence back and be able to speak to others about my life event.
