Help Evan raise money

For participating in A Run for Chris

My Story…

Join me in honoring the memory of my dear friend Chris Owens. We played competitive basketball growing up together in Waterdown and his nickname on the team was "Air Canada" due to the fact he couldn't keep his feet still when he had possession of the ball (which in basketball is known as a "travel"). Little did we know this was foreshadowing all of the places he would visit in the future, spreading his charismatic cheer to the world. By donating to A Run for Chris, you'll support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Youth Wellness Centre, ensuring vital care and resources for young individuals facing mental health challenges, just like Chris did. Let's keep Chris's legacy alive and help others find hope and healing on their journey.

Description

I am participating in A Run for Chris in honour of Chris Owens. On August 20, 2021, at the age of 26, Chris lost his battle with mental health and substance use. This year, to continue the proud tradition of raising funds for programs and services helping those living with mental health and/or substance use concerns, all funds raised will support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Youth Wellness Centre (YWC)

Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal, and so that we can help the YWC support young people in need.

The YWC is a safe environment for young people ages 17 to 25 to receive expert care for mental health and substance use concerns. The YWC team is committed to bridging the gap between the youth and adult mental health care systems – a time when young people can fall through the cracks of our system. The care team at the YWC offers culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed care and helps young people access the mental health and substance use care they may need in a safe(r) space.

Thank you for your support!
