Description

The ELIJA Foundation serves parents, educators, professionals and caregivers of children with Autism on Long Island since 2002, focusing on empowering families and improving the competency level of professionals. The Foundation hosts workshops that give the community access to local and nationally recognized Autism professionals.

The ELIJA Foundation is committed to offering the most comprehensive information geared toward improving the lives of persons with Autism and their families. In 2006, The ELIJA School opened its doors to extend the mission of the Foundation and start helping children with Autism. Shortly thereafter, ELIJA expanded its impact on the Autism community beyond the realm of student instruction, with its launching of The ELIJA Transition Program & Services (TPS), focused on meeting the needs of adolescents and adults with Autism.

TPS has expanded the opportunities to build transferable skills that will lead to success vocationally, socially, academically, and in all areas related to health, wellness and overall quality of life. We are committed to the creation of a transitional and adult program that helps families feel confident and secure that their children will have support over their lifespan.

The ELIJA Farm, founded in 2016, further demonstrates our commitment to transitioning adults with autism. ELIJA Farm is a sustainable, nonprofit farm in South Huntington, NY, committed to using environmentally responsible practices to raise high quality, locally grown produce. ELIJA Farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is dedicated to enriching the health and wellness of our community through dynamic learning opportunities to its diverse membership. Young adults on the Autism spectrum contribute to the productivity of the farm and CSA, building transferable skills that will lead to success vocationally, socially, and in their overall quality of life.
