Life can change in an instant. For my 57-year-old mother and me, it came in the form of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, or PSP—a rare and devastating neurodegenerative disease that has altered the rhythm of our days, our future, and our relationship.
Before the diagnosis, my mother was a vibrant woman—strong-willed, independent, and the kind of person who would always find a way to make things work. As a single parent, she raised me with a fierce sense of responsibility and love, often working twice as hard to make sure I had everything I needed. We shared so many moments—laughter, travels, family celebrations—that now feel so distant, yet I hold them closer than ever.
Though this journey is uncertain and filled with challenges, my mother’s resilience inspires me every day. She may not be able to say the words, but I can feel her gratitude and love. And as long as I am able, I will stand by her, just as she has always stood
