Christmas Daddies Navy Diver RUN

Raise money for Christmas Daddies Navy Diver RUN

This year marks the 42nd consecutive year that FDU(A) has been involved with this worthwhile charity.  The original run in 1984 was from Truro to Halifax, but this route changed in 1992 to ensure the safety of the runners and to encourage further donations from local communities. In 1992, participants ran from Shearwater to Bedford, changed into wet suits and swam to downtown Halifax. The following year they switched to a 50 km format running through Cole Harbour, Lower Sackville and Bedford, finishing at CTV Halifax. For four years from 2020-2023, an event was held at FDU enabling the event to take place during covid restrictions and this year the 50km run is being held on the shearwater flyer trail.

Throughout the history of the run FDU(A), a unit consisting of approximately 100 personnel, has managed to raise over $367,000 through the marathon and over $775,000 through auctioning a replica brass diving helmet (MK5), which is held in trust by the highest bidder and proudly displayed in their place of business for the next 12 months. The total amount donated throughout this events history is approximately 1.1 million dollars.
