My Story…
I heard of Climbing for Change from my good friend Thomas Luedersdorf last year. He described the event as a gruelling multiple-hour-long challenge that was both mentally and physically challenging, but also as a very rewarding experience. I also enjoy doing hard things, so when he asked if I wanted to participate this year, I said yes right away!
The event is on September 27-28, 2025. Climbing for Change is an “everesting” challenge where participants complete a number of hill repeats over 1-2 days that equate to the height of a mountain of their choice. Rabbit Hill is approximately 217 ft (66 m) tall, and one loop is 750 m long. Aside from the physical challenge, the event also had an added benefit of raising money for a charity of our choice. We decided to raise money for the Edmonton Food Bank. My goal is to raise $1,000, and we have a team goal of raising at least $5,000.
Thomas is our Team Captain, and our other two members are Matthew Riemer and Luke Cormier. Together, we plan to tackle Mount Rainier, which is 14,410 ft (4,392 m) tall and includes completing 66 laps (50 km) of the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Our goal is to tackle the mountain together and hopefully be one of the fastest teams participating!
Every donation, big or small, helps make a real difference to those who are facing food insecurity right now in Edmonton. Please consider helping me in raising funds for the Edmonton Food Bank and to reach out team fundraising goal. Thank you! J
