Volunteer work and event summary.
Hume & Hovell Ultra is a multi-day event held over the second weekend in October (12 & 13 October 2024)
The success of the Hume & Hovell Ultra is dependent on the help of many volunteers for which the organisers are very grateful.
Volunteers are required for many jobs which can require many hours at very remote locations or just a few hours on one of the days.
The main Aid Station is at Henry Angel Trackhead 9km south of Tumbarumba on the Tooma Road other Aid Stations are located remotely in the surrounding National Park and Forests.
Some of the jobs are:-
Friday night check-in and bag check. Required between 4pm and 7pm Friday 11 October in Tumbarumba.
Firs Aid person. each of the 7 Aid Stations has a First Aid person present while the station is open. Stations are open continuously for between 12 to 32 hours.
Aid Station assistant, Help set up and/or dismantle the station, helping runners top up water and food, mandatory equipment check of runners & boosting runners moral etc.
Set up and/or dismantle the main Aid Station at Henry Angel Tradkhead.
Canteen assistant. There is a food station set up at the main Aid Station providing hot and cold food for runners when they finish, the canteen is open from about 11am Saturday to 6 pm Sunday. It is manned throughout the night.
Breakfast BBQ person. There is a BBQ held Sunday morning for the runners and volunteers. This starts around 7am and finishes at lunchtime.
