Zack Kuffel is already smiling about his role as Perogy Run Ambassador! He’s a natural for the job not only as a 17-year-old social butterfly with a contagious and radiant smile, but also because he is thriving and striving to live his best life thanks to the support of the Movement Centre.
 
According to Zack’s mom Janique, “We would truly be lost without such a supportive and inclusive program. The Movement Centre has an incredibly positive impact on Zack’s overall life. He would not be where he is without this place.”
 
Zack began his rehabilitation journey at the Movement Centre 10 years ago. Living with cerebral palsy which affects his muscles, limbs and speech, Zack is wheelchair dependent and uses a communication device to communicate with people. At the Centre Zack works hard on vital life and self-care skills to increase his independence and prepare him for adulthood. During his individualized therapy program, Zack is out of his wheelchair strengthening his mobility, stamina and endurance.
 
And while Zack’s rehabilitation is hard work, it happens within the Centre’s magical circle of friendship, connection and kinship with other families. Zack’s family draws strength and resilience through this supportive environment.
 
“The Movement Centre has given us the chance to connect with other families who face similar challenges – people who just get it. This gives us a sense of community and belonging”, says Janique.
 
Watch out for Ambassador Zack on June 22, as Captain and taking his ambassador job seriously, he will be “driving around socializing with everyone and eating all the perogies and pizza!” predicts his mom.
