I’m fundraising for a cause so grand to keep this wild and wondrous land
I appreciate the High Line Conservancy's mission to preserve the High Line Canal, a 71-mile stretch following former farming canals that today sneak through suburbs and open space from near the Denver International Airport, through nature preserves, down to Chatfield Reservoir.
It's a place where my feathered friends winter over, create nests in spring and hunt snacks year-round. On January 1 this year my Audubon team counted about 600 birds in a 4-mile stretch. It's one of the longest urban trails in the country and a fine way to skeedaddle from the every day grind for some moments of nature and peace.
