My Story…
Every year, the Homeboy Industries 5K holds a profound place in my heart. I run in memory of my brother, Alfred "Freddy" Luna Jr., and my Tia Ruth "Cuca" Fry. Freddy's path of transformation and healing mirrors the journey of many at Homeboy Industries. My Tia Cuca, a steadfast supporter of their mission, inspires me to keep showing up—for others and for change.
Our team name, "That's Your Pedo," comes from Freddy's signature catchphrase—his way of saying, "Own your stuff, and don't forget to laugh." That phrase became our team name, and over time, it's grown into a banner for something bigger: joy, resilience, and transformation.
In a time when empathy, dignity, and redemption are more important than ever, we run to uplift those values. Each step supports the life-changing work of Homeboy Industries—providing job training, education, therapy, and hope to thousands.
Every step I take is about more than the finish line—it's about hope, dignity, and transformation. With your support, we can carry Freddy's spirit forward and help others reclaim their lives through the life-changing work of Homeboy Industries.
