My Story…
I’m looking to return to this race a year after suffering a cardiac arrest at its finish line.
The race means more than a time at this point to me. Which is great, as I've never been fast to begin with. But this event is a way that I get to be surrounded by others wanting to find their mental escape, practice self-care, build up a discipline or resilience, pursue a sense of accomplishment.
The vulnerability and emotions behind running has been what drew me in, and continues to do so.
As a part of my own recovery journey, I’m looking forward to doing a small part in bringing awareness back to heart health with an active living lifestyle, and the formidable bond that someone can have within a community that they are a part of.
