Help Nicole raise money

On Saturday, July 19, I'll be running 10km in support of myeloma research. If you like running, please join me! It's taking place at Hermitage Park in Edmonton at 10am. 

If you don't like running but want to come anyway to hang out after, please do!

At this time last year, Tim couldn't move because he was in so much pain. After 2 failed hospital visits and a few doctor appointments, he was finally diagnosed with MM. 

Five cycles of chemo treatment later, he had a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant where he was in the cancer centre for 3 weeks. There is no cure for this type of cancer. Smart people are working on one, but until then, this is the treatment path for anyone that is diagnosed.

Approx. 4K Canadians are diagnosed with myeloma every year. Of those, only 2% are under the age of 40. Tim is now in a 'remission' state, taking continuing maintenance drugs every day until they stop working against the cancer. We are hoping for a 10 year remission period, which is on the high end of the spectrum. 

This run is put on my the Myeloma Alberta Support Society. It's a volunteer organization that raises money to support local research. This goes directly towards the doctors and research teams who have been helping Tim and other myeloma patients in Edmonton. 

I'm running because I like to. I won't be trying to beat my best time. The goal is to come together as a community and to try to raise money for this disease. So please join me if you want to! You can Register for the Event.
