My Story…
My name is Megan Plunkett. I’m married and a proud mom of two beautiful boys. While I was pregnant with my second son, I discovered a lump in my right breast. Everyone around me — including some professionals — assumed it was just a clogged duct. I kept an eye on it, but didn’t think much of it at the time.
After giving birth, the lump was still there months later. I had already stopped breastfeeding due to some struggles and noticed there was still some discharge, but I figured my body just hadn’t dried up yet.
It wasn’t until February that I pushed to see my doctor. Even then, my concerns were brushed off. I insisted on a mammogram — and thank God I did. The radiology team took it seriously and scheduled a biopsy that same day. Just days later, I was called in for an MRI, and shortly after that, I heard the words no one wants to hear: breast cancer.
