My Story…
This year, the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association USA (SWYAA USA) is proud to join the JCYC Aloha Run. It’s a way to honor a shared mission of youth empowerment, cross-cultural understanding, and community building. Our journey with SWY taught us the power of international exchange — how diverse perspectives, when united by shared purpose, can transform individuals and strengthen communities. Onboard the Ship for World Youth, we met inspiring peers from around the world, each committed to creating a better future. That experience instilled in us a lifelong passion for global citizenship. The Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC) has been a pillar of support for young people in the SF Bay Area for over 50 years. Their work spans education access, leadership development, and preserving cultural heritage — values that deeply resonate with the SWY mission. Proceeds from the 2025 San Francisco Aloha Run will go towards the JCYC Scholarship Programs, which are awarded to primarily low-income students who will be the first in their family to attend college. Running together is also a way to reconnect with our SWY family. Whether you can donate, cheer from afar, your support empowers, uplifts, and inspires.
