For over three years, I’ve had the privilege of working at JCYC, a nonprofit dedicated to serving the youth of San Francisco. In our Workforce Department, we support high school students, especially those facing barriers to employment, by helping them land their very first jobs and teaching them what job readiness truly means. While I didn’t participate in these programs as a youth, I’ve seen their impact firsthand through friends and peers who did. This work changes lives. It builds confidence, real-world skills, and creates a path forward for young people who might not otherwise see one. It ensures that every student no matter their background can access mentorship, paid work experience, and a supportive community that believes in them. Let’s invest in the next generation of leaders.
