My Story…
Hello Friends and Family!
I am excited to run the Dimock 5K on Saturday September 6th with my Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Boston Alumnae Chapter. We are raising money for Dimock Health Center and raising awareness of breast cancer in black women through our partnership with the American Cancer Society Voices of Black Women campaign.https://voices.cancer.org/
“Nationally, Black women under the age of 65 with breast cancer have a 78% higher death rate compared to white women, despite similar screening rates.”
I have a personal testimony to share this year which is my own experience with breast cancer, detected on my routine screening mammogram in January. Since diagnosis of the right breast cancer in February, I had a double mastectomy in March and a 2nd reconstructive surgery in July. I am so happy to report that I am all healed without any spread so I do not need any chemo or radiation therapy. This year has been full of love, support and healing. I want to encourage everyone to get their screening mammogram every year starting at age 40! Please help me in supporting Dimock Health Center and the American Cancer Society as they support patient access to care and treatment.
Donate to help Nyia raise money for 11th Annual Road to Wellness 5K Run/2-Mile Walk’s fundraising campaign.
