Do you want to be part of the amazing Volunteer Crew that makes the Crater Rim Ultra possible?
The answer is obviously - YES - who wouldn't want to have an awesome weekend supporting the community.
We need ‘YOU' on the 18th & 19th October to make CRU 2025 amazing!
Volunteer support can range from Race Village Help, Course Marshalling, Course Marking, Registration Day Help, opportunities are endless.
The Crater Rim Ultra is organised by runners for runners and supports numerous local charities and organisations that help people to get outdoors and active.
Apart from receiving a heap of high fives, community kudos and that warm fuzzy feeling of giving - CRU will also provide everything you need for the day including lunch/ snacks and a CRU gift pack.
The event and the support are not possible without ‘YOU’ – dedicated volunteers are the backbone of this event.

We need....
Course Marshal
On Sunday we need support out on course to help keep our runners on track and encourage them to keep going! We have marshal points suitable for all abilities and time availability. Full information packs provided for each marshal position.
Registration Desk
On Saturday’s registration day 1pm to 5pm we require meticulous types to check off our entrants. This will involve greeting our entrants, taking their name, providing a race number and info, and checking compulsory gear. This is a cool way of meeting people. Direction will be provided.
Event Ambassador
Do you know and love showing off the amazing Crater Rim Ultra courses? We need you on registration day to help answer entrants questions about the course and the event.
Course Marking
Keep our runners on track – in the week prior to event weekend we need people who know the trails to help mark the way through the Port Hills.
Course Clearing
From Sunday evening through Monday we need assistance in clearing the courses of markings and returning the hills to how we found them.
Tail End Charlies
Guiding from the back we require caring runners for each race distance to co-ordinate with the organising team to help ensure everyone is accounted for.
Race Village Set Up
On Saturday morning we need help with the general set up of the race village. This involves lifting and moving items, decorating, helping organise supplies, start/ finish shoot build, prepping registration tables etc.
Race Village General Help
Throughout the weekend we need your help to keep the race village alive and flowing. This involves helping with lifting and moving items, managing pre-ordered merchandise, decorating, sustainability assistance, set up award ceremonies etc.
Race Village Pack Down
Late afternoon on Sunday we need help with the general pack down of the race village. This involves lifting and moving items and general tidying tasks.
