My Story…
My name is Laura and I am a 9 year Ovarian Cancer survivor.
My story is a scary yet funny one. I started gaining weight in a short amount of time and was often asked if I was pregnant. After going to the ER for pain in my abdomen, a few pregnancy tests (negative of course!) and a CT scan later, revealed a large mass attached to my right ovary. I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks later. On 1/29/2016, I had an 11lb malignant tumor the size of a basketball removed. I was blessed that the cells were incased inside the tumor and was not required to take chemo or radiation. What is the funny part of this you ask? Well, after my meltdown of hearing the "C" word, I decided that I didn't want to be scared but to turn it into something funny.. so, before my surgery, I had purchased a Cabbage Patch doll to take with me to the hospital. After surgery, I had informed everyone that I gave birth to a very healthy baby boy and even posted a picture. Today, he is 9 years old and my best kid yet!
