My Story…
In memory of Abigail Margaret Gust, I’m walking the Butterfly Run 2025.
When I saw the positive pregnancy test, joyful relief filled me - I was pregnant. Alex and I loved making plans, sharing the news and letting our parents know they were going to be grandparents. Three months later we lost her. It was the worst night of our lives.
The pain of miscarriage is not just the experience - it’s the isolation. The feeling that I can’t share my pain since most people never knew I was pregnant. The uncomfortable expectation to grieve without having a funeral. The generations of history saying to keep it a secret.
Miscarriage has been relegated to secrecy, private sorrow and shame for too long. The Butterfly Support Network and events like this help bring this pain out of the shadows and draw community together to support each other and remind us we are not alone.
The Butterfly Support Network provides incredible programs for families grieving and in need of support. Your donation means another parent gets the resources they need to heal. Would you give today and help another family know that they aren't alone?
