Thirteen years ago, a vision was born in Richmond Hill: to empower youth with life-saving skills, the heart to serve and build life-long friendship. From that vision, the St. John Ambulance Y1278 Richmond Hill Cadets Unit was established.

Since its founding, Y1278 has proudly trained hundreds of young people, equipping them not only with first aid knowledge and emergency response skills, but with the leadership, teamwork, and compassion needed to thrive in any field. Many of our alumni have gone on to become healthcare professionals, community leaders, and other professionals — making a real difference in their communities.

But this program does more than train future professionals. It builds character, fosters a sense of purpose, and gives youth a place to belong.

Yet, we cannot do it alone.

Why We Need Your Support

As a volunteer-run, non-profit youth program, we rely on community donations to keep our training accessible and our equipment up to date. Your support helps us:

Provide uniforms, medical supplies, first aid kits and other training materials

Offer hands-on training, leadership workshops, and certifications

Participate in community events and emergency simulations

Expand outreach so more youth can join regardless of financial barriers
