Rylie's Smile Foundation

Rylie's Smile Foundation is a 501c3 focused on bringing smile back to sick children and their families by helping them achieve a better quality of life. We do this through providing health education, advocating for more treatment options and supporting research of less toxic therapies. When we know better we can do better for our children. 

Rylie's Smile Foundation was founded by Rylie Maedler in 2015. At the age of 9 years old, Rylie began assisting to change several Delaware laws to help pediatric patients gain safe legal access to medicinal cannabis. Rylie's Law was the first and given her name by legislators in 2015. In the following years with the help of the nonprofit she was able to assist in the addition of several more laws to ensure a more equal access for pediatric patients. Some of these include adding Access to Medicinal Cannabis for Patients on school grounds, adding Severe Autism to the Pediatric Qualifying conditions and the Pediatric Compassionate Use Law which allows specialists to recommend cannabis therapy for a medical condition not on Delaware's qualifying list. Rylie continued her advocacy and speaking engagements internationally to help policy makers, patients and medical professionals understand the importance of pediatric patients having safe access to dependable alternative medications and their medical teams to be involved. She reminds decision makers of the many intricate hurdles pediatric families face to access legal alternative medicines ant the stigma patients must overcome. Thus far she has assisted policy makers and medical professionals throughout the United States and also in Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, South Africa and Canada.

With Rylie's policy and educational accomplishments, the foundation has been able to shift more focus toward education and research. Rylie's Smile Foundation works daily with families referred from major research hospitals who are facing very difficult circumstances such as their child being diagnosed with a terminal disease or a severe diagnosis that affects their quality of life daily. The foundation is able to ensure families not only have safe access but guidance and access to the latest research. We are dedicated to helping families improve their child's symptoms or side effects from treatment and slow disease progression so that they may be able to have more quality days with their loved ones. Rylie's Smile Foundation works exclusively with Discovery Partners Institute based within Illinois University to further our understanding by assisting in the much needed research of cannabinoids affects on pediatric diseases. 

All proceeds, donations and grants go directly toward helping foundation families we serve. All advisors, consultants, medical professionals, and researchers donate their valuable time so that the impact of every proceed is greater.
