My Story…
Hello! My name is Kathleen Douglas. My story began May 2017, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage 2. After multiple treatments, surgeries, and many trips to UAB I was cancer free in 2018. In August 2024, I learned that the breast cancer has returned now in my bones, multiple lymph nodes, and liver. I now seek treatments at the City of Hope in Atlanta, going every 3 months. I am told there in nothing they can do but treat with oral chemotherapy and multiple injections. Even though I have this diagnosis, I will not let it slow me down. I live a very active life, working to jobs as a RN, going to school, and working out 3 days a week. My plan was to run the 5k event this year, however I have to have a minor surgery on October 6 so I will be walking the mile. I plan to work up running the 5k next year 2026, so I can say I accomplished a personal goal of mine...to do something I always said I could never do!
