About the DENR Save from Extinction Campaign

The Wildlife Loop is a virtual race that celebrates our collective power to create positive impacts for the planet and for our own well-being. Open to participants of all ages, the race invites everyone to walk, run, or cycle at their own pace—anytime and anywhere. With the theme "Each Stride Helps Save a Species", every step you take brings us closer to protecting the country’s unique and threatened wildlife.

This self-paced fitness-for-a-cause event allows individuals and groups to walk, run, or cycle anytime, anywhere, while contributing to the protection of our country’s rich biodiversity. For this year’s run, part of the proceeds will go to the “Save from Extinction” Campaign—a nationwide effort spearheaded by the Department of  Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)  - that  seeks to protect six of the Philippines’ most endangered species: the Philippine eagle, tamaraw, Philippine cockatoo, marine turtles, dugong, and pangolin. The campaign aims to raise both awareness and funds to safeguard these species and support the local communities that depend on healthy ecosystems for their livelihoods.

The DENR Save from Extinction Campaign

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) “Save from Extinction” campaign seeks to protect six of the Philippines’ most critically endangered species: the dugong, Philippine eagle, pawikan (marine turtle), pangolin, Philippine cockatoo, and tamaraw. The initiative raises both awareness and funds to safeguard these species and support the local communities that depend on healthy ecosystems for their livelihoods.

The campaign is implemented in partnership with leading conservation organizations, including the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, Zoological Society of London–Philippines, Forest Foundation Philippines, D’Aboville Foundation, Katala Foundation, and the Philippine Eagle Foundation, who carry out vital on-the-ground conservation work.

To broaden its reach, the campaign also engages key corporate partners such as SM Supermalls, Kultura, and Banco de Oro Unibank, Inc. (BDO), which help promote awareness through posters, videos, and fundraising booths across their malls nationwide.

Proceeds from the campaign directly support conservation interventions, habitat protection, and community-based initiatives aimed at restoring populations of these endangered species and ensuring their survival for generations to come.
