My Story…
They say third times a charm so this year I not only made the decision to go the long distance of 26.2 but decided to raise money for none other that the Mario Lemieux Foundation. That magic number "66" that every so graced the city of Pittsburgh and led them to back to back Stanley Cups back in 1991 and 1992 unfortunately was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in January 1993. This made him have to take a step back from the sport he loved so much to go and fight off the ice. He then returned to the ice just two months later on March 2, 1993 and played against the Flyers and scored a goal and an assist.
Mario created the Mario Lemieux Foundation in order to help families who are fighting this terrible battle. Since the existence of the foundation it has raised over 37 Million Dollars in cancer research and patient care.
Not only has Mario Lemieux made an impact on my love for hockey but a very dear friend has battled this same diagnosis. So I am asking you to help me reach my goal of $500.00 to help end the fight against cancer. LET'S GO PENS

Since their founding in 1993, the Mario Lemieux Foundation has been focused on finding a cure for cancer by funding research and patient care, and supporting families in challenging medical situations. Through ongoing projects at the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers, the Mario Lemieux Lymphoma Center, the Mario Lemieux Immunotherapy Center, and the recently established Mario Lemieux Center for Heart Rhythm Care, we support research that translates to clinical trails and innovative therapies that save lives.
