My Story…
Anyone who knows me knows I am not a runner. So, when I decided to challenge myself by signing up for a half marathon, I needed something to hold me accountable. I am fundraising for Homeless Children’s Education Fund. Their vision revolves around creating equity through education. After researching each organization available to fundraise for, HCEF’s values inspired me:
“All people have intrinsic value, unique gifts, and deserve respect.”
“Homelessness is a temporary condition, not an identity.”
“Quality education is a civil right.”
“System change is necessary and creates lasting solutions.”
There are extreme barriers in education caused by homelessness and every child should be given a chance to succeed regardless of their socioeconomic status.
HCEF’s mission is to provide children and youth experiencing homelessness with a more equitable education experience by partnering with students, families, and schools to eliminate the barriers caused by unstable housing. Through personalized and accessible learning, advocacy for systemic change, and the cultivation of strategic partnerships, they are committed to creating a region where youth experiencing homelessness can leverage their education to flourish as productive, empowered adults.
Let’s add meaning to these miles by supporting a good cause!
