My Story…
I was one of the many who welcomed a Covid fur-baby into my home in the middle of a pandemic… a “Labradobedane” puppy named Luna.
Just two weeks after adopting Luna, she broke her leg due to malnourishment and an abundance of puppy energy. On day one alone, I spent $1,500 on an emergency vet visit, X-rays, and getting her leg casted. From there, we returned weekly for new casts and biweekly for X-rays to monitor her healing.
A year and a half later, Luna began losing weight rapidly — dropping from 73 pounds to just 50. She became lethargic; after months of vet visits, blood work, B12 injections, ultrasounds, a specialized diet, and countless tests, she finally returned to her healthy, joyful, playful self.
Having experienced the financial strain of ongoing specialized veterinary care firsthand, I knew I wanted to Run for a Reason and support a cause close to my heart. The Izzie Fund exists to help responsible dog owners afford life saving veterinary care when there are still medical options available.
If your pet has been diagnosed with a disease or condition requiring specialized care, The Izzie Fund may be able to help.
