My Story…
Help me raise money to support autism research and resources!
Hello! I am running my VERY FIRST 5k in May because I am taking charge of bettering my physical and mental health. I chose to fundraise for the Organization for Autism Research because this cause is near and dear to my heart. I have been suspicious of my own potential ASD behaviors for a while now (which have been confirmed and validated!) and I am also the proud aunt to a smart, intelligent, and beautiful autistic niece.
Why OAR? OAR's mission is to apply research on the challenges of autism to enhance the lives of those it impacts. OAR is fully focused on the topics of everyday relevance such as education, parent and teacher training, communication, self-care, social skills, employment, behavior, and adult and community issues. Bottom line, their focus is quality of life.
Additionally, OAR is an organization founded and led by parents and grandparents of autistic children who set out to use applied science to answer questions that autistic individuals, their parents, families, teachers, and caregivers confront daily.
I believe that there is so much information about autism that has yet to be revealed. Without funding to pursue a larger understanding, we cannot remove the stigma that, just because someone's brain works differently, autistic people are "less than" or cannot function in society compared to neurotypical people.

Please help support me by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance the Organization for Autism Research's great cause!
