My Story…
Hi friends! Greg and I decided to run the Pittsburgh half marathon this year and what better way than to raise money for a foundation that’s near and dear to my heart!
As many of you know I’m a nurse at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in the cardiac ICU. The UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation impacts the lives of children by supporting life changing research, high quality care and evolving technology that allows for better patient care. I’ve seen first hand how children’s lives are changed by this foundation, especially my heart kiddos.
Did you know that 1 in 100 kids are born with a congenital heart disease? There are so many different types of CHD, new variants of anomalies that we see day to day. This is why research, education and advocation is so important to CHD. So, I am raising money and running in support of all my little heart warriors ❤️
My hope is that this can not only raise money for an important foundation that supports the research and technology for these kids, but also help raise awareness of CHD. If you can help even a little, it goes a long way. Thank you 🤍

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2023 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
