My Story…
Hello! 👋 My name is Callen Potts and I am a 5 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy. After my spinal surgery last March, Variety the Children’s Charity gifted my family a bike made specifically for me! Giving me the freedom to enjoy the beautiful weather and views Pittsburgh has to offer! Come join me and my family by donating to this wonderful charity to provide other with exceptionalities like mine devices to make life a little easier, and a lot more fun! 💚
Insurance companies can be very picky when they decide which devices they will fund for individuals with disabilities. The devices that are requested cost families thousands of dollars. So most must go without. Variety provides those voices the chance to be heard when their bodies are unable. They provide families the opportunity to take their loved ones with physical limitations out in the community to make memories and not have to worry about carrying them or simply not going. They also provide inclusion, for kids like Callen and young adults who need more support and safety than a typical store brand bike can provide.
Variety the Children’s Charity relies solely on donors to help ease the financial stress of AAC devices, medical strollers, and adaptive bikes. Please share our fundraising page in hopes to continue to grow contributions in Callen’s name! We love and thank all of your for your support!
Description
Your donation will help kids with disabilities BE KIDS, so please consider a gift of any amount to celebrate my running for VARIETY in the 2025 DICK'S Sporting goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend!
With a mission to empower children with disabilities to live life to the fullest, Variety the Children’s Charity provides life-changing mobility and communication equipment to ensure our most vulnerable kids are no longer left out, left behind, or excluded.
Variety offers three adaptive equipment programs for eligible kids and families who can consider one, two, or all three pieces of equipment. These programs are truly opening newfound possibilities for kids and their families to live healthier, safer, and more fulfilling lives at home, school, and throughout the community!
- Variety’s My Bike Program provides new Rifton adaptive bikes (including stationary stands and prescribed accessories) to eligible children with disabilities, so they can experience the joy, freedom, and belonging from riding a bike – including the therapeutic and recreational benefits.
- Variety’s My Stroller Program provides Convaid EZ Rider adaptive strollers to eligible kids with disabilities to increase their mobility, inclusion, and safety - especially for ambulatory kids living with elopement issues and no safety awareness. An adaptive stroller allows for easier “on-the-go” mobility and participation in daily activities for the child and their whole family.
- Variety’s My Voice Program provides a communication device (i.e., a restricted iPad with a prescribed communication app) to eligible children who are nonverbal (or have a communication disorder) to ensure they are never without a voice.
Since Variety must raise the funds to provide every piece of equipment, any donation amount truly makes a difference!
