My Story…
I’m walking 5km in support of Kindred Connections Society, an organization that walks with people through some of life’s hardest moments—homelessness, poverty, mental health struggles, and complex family needs. Kindred shows up with compassion, not judgment—offering housing support, community outreach, counselling, and parenting programs that help people rebuild from the ground up. By sponsoring my run, you’re helping create safety, dignity, and possibility for those too often pushed to the margins. Every step I take is for connection, for healing, and for hope.
Description
Kindred is determined to make Calgary the best place for a baby to be born and be supported. As a city, and province, we face a mental health crisis. Yet, Kindred proves that, for vulnerable families, lives improve when parents can access prevention-based programs for themselves and their children.
One way we help build healthy attachments that support lifelong connections is via accessible mental health services for both parent and child. With us, you’re supporting care before crisis and fewer intrusive interventions later in life.
For example, a gift of $1,000 will fund five Rapid Access Counselling sessions, which help prevent the same mental health issues that cost our country a staggering $51 billion a year. By choosing to designate your gift to Kindred, you’re helping us bring that number down on two fronts:
- Ensuring parents get help before challenges become more painful and costly to resolve.
- Ensuring kids have what’s vitally important to resilience — a strong connection with their primary caregiver.
Together, we can make a difference and realize the power of human connection.
