My Story…
Update: going for a stretch goal of $300!
Wood’s Homes is an organization that helps families and children work towards overcoming a variety of hardships. Melba, through Bowness Soapworks, has a partnership with Wood’s where she helps to support youth with employment opportunities through her small business.
I have worked in the human services sector for over 12 years. Something I have learned in that time is this: One of the biggest keys to success for people—from any walk of life— is community. Building a community, being involved in community, and having a community surrounding and supporting others ensures that people are taken care of in all areas of their lives.
Melba walks the talk. It’s one of the many reasons I love her and fully support her and her endeavours. I am honoured to participate in the Calgary Marathon with her this year, running my FIRST 5k! (Yes, Melba is so fricken awesome that I’m going to get my butt in gear and do my first ever race!)
Please consider donating to support Wood’s Homes (and boost my morale), and also please support Melba and Bowness Soapworks!
Description
Wood’s Homes is a children’s mental health centre. We provide treatment and support to children, youth and families with mental health needs. Founded as an orphanage by Reverend George Wood in 1914, we are a place of caring and trust. A place you can turn to for help when you don’t know what else to do, or when you have nowhere else to turn. Our donors all share a deep commitment to helping children, youth and families in our community.
We Never Say No.
