Help Kulwant raise money

In honor of my mom, who passed away in October 2023 from liver cirrhosis, my team and I are participating in this race to raise money for Liver Canada. My mom was the heart of our family and always put others before herself. She lovingly called me and my two sisters "Mona's Angels," and she was always there for us, no matter what. Whether it was a visit with us or anyone else she dropped everything to be present for the ones she loved.

In the year leading up to her passing, my mom began showing symptoms of liver disease. Despite multiple visits to the doctor, her liver abnormalities went undiagnosed for far too long. It wasn’t until July 2023 that she was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach pain, and after multiple tests, she was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease. Tragically, we lost her just a few months later, in October 2023.

One of the most heartbreaking aspects of her journey was that she was a non-drinker, and there were no clear answers as to the cause of her condition. Despite abnormal liver readings in the past, there was no follow-up or further testing. It wasn’t until after her passing that we discovered that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) runs in our family, and we are all taking active steps to prevent a similar fate.

My mom's story is one of love, sacrifice, and resilience. She always showed up for us, and now, it’s our turn to show up for her and others who are suffering from liver disease.

Through this race and our fundraising efforts, we hope to raise awareness, provide support for research, and honor my mom’s memory by helping those who are going through similar struggles.
