The impact of cancer is profound, touching the lives of everyone in some way. This past year, I have witnessed family, friends, and loved ones suffer and grieve under the weight of this relentless disease.

On February 21st, my "little brother" and friend, Jaden Thind, passed away after a courageous battle with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. He was 21 years old. Through every challenge, he was surrounded by the unwavering love of his parents and siblings—Allen, Deesha, Jared, and Julia. Yet, at the heart of his fight, it was Jaden himself who inspired us all. His strength, resilience, and spirit lifted those around him, even in his hardest moments.

Growing up, Jaden was always chasing after Jared and me, eager to join in on every adventure. Though he was five years younger, his admiration for us was clear—he wanted to be just like his older brother and his friends. But in these last few months, everything changed. It was I and all those around him who looked up to him. His tenacity, toughness, and unshakable mental will left all of us in awe. Even in the face of unimaginable pain and fear, he never lost his sense of humour, nor his deep love and devotion to his family and friends. Jaden quickly became one of my most valued role models, and the lessons he taught me will stay with me forever.
